Blue Owl is excited to re-introduce a brand to our collection that has long been a shop favorite. Many years ago we carried Pure Blue Japan, unfortunately we had to stop carrying the label. However, we have continued admiring what they do and kept our eye on them through the years. We're thrilled to finally be able to offer their denim again!

Pure Blue Japan is known for using a combination of vintage shuttle looms and natural dying techniques to create some of the most irregular and beautifully unique denim on the market. The brand is represented by their leaf logo, embroidered on the back pocket of every jean, which is the leaf of the indigofera plant used to create natural indigo dyes. PBJ was founded in 1997 through Kenichi Iwaya's passion for denim. Now approaching twenty years in business, the brand has earned its place on the small list of artisan manufacturers that we consider the best in the world. With excruciating attention to detail in every step of the process from dying, to weaving, to sewing and hardware, Pure Blue Japan truly earns their prestige.

We begin by offering the XX-013, PBJ's standard indigo denim in a slim tapered fit. The brand built itself upon the rigid slubbiness and rich texture of this denim, so we find it fitting for it to be the first denim we carry from the lineup. The indigo begins deep in color and fades to a stunning natural blue. More models are on the way and expected to land here at the shop soon!
