• Limited to only 186 pieces worldwide, the Awa-Shoaizome denim reflects ONI’s Japanese heritage and longstanding textile expertise. Combining old-world weaving techniques with natural hand-dyed yarns, the denim achieves a color and texture unattainable through modern production methods. Made in partnership with textile studios in Tokushima, Japan, ONI uses hand-operated antique looms to create the fabric’s extra-heavy slub texture; a time and labor-intensive process giving the denim a uniquely human touch. In addition, the yarns are bundled and hand-dyed using Tokushima natural indigo, resulting in an extremely varied color profile. Each pair is rinse-treated to remove shrinkage and improve the hand feel.
