  • The "Amami Dorozome" collection is a limited assortment of garments that have been dyed on the island of Amami Ōshima using traditional Japanese dorozome mud-dyeing techniques. Dorozome combines vegetable tannins with mud to create a terracotta-earth tone unique to each garment. The Amami region is prized for its soil rich with iron, allowing for widely varied shades of brown and better longevity. Studio D'artisan's heavyweight loopwheel fabric is knit on old-world tubular knitting machines exclusive to Japan. The resulting fabric is dense in construction with a soft-bouncy touch.
