• Referencing antique Japanese workwear fabrics, Studio D’artisan’s D1897 denim is crafted on a specialty jacquard loom and features a kakishibu-sashiko running stitch. Kakishibu is a traditional Japanese dyeing method that uses fermented persimmon tannins to achieve a rich amber hue — one that will deepen and evolve with wear. This distinctive fabric blends an indigo-dyed warp with a persimmon-dyed weft, resulting in a denim that ages with depth and character. Finished with classic five-pocket construction, hidden rivets, raised belt loops, and a custom deerskin patch, this pair is a standout in both craftsmanship and design.
