  • A true original, Merz b. Schwanen’s Polo Shirt is the world’s first and only polo made from loopwheeled piqué fabric. Crafted entirely in Germany using vintage loopwheel machines, the fabric features a breathable waffle texture that delivers both structure and comfort. Built from all-organic cotton, this shirt offers an exceptional blend of heritage craftsmanship and modern wearability. We recommend sizing up to account for shrinkage after washing.

  • Founded in 2011 by Gitta and Peter Plotnicki, Merz b. Schwanen revitalized a historic German textile factory dating back to the early 20th century. Specializing in authentic heritage garments, the brand uses original loopwheel machines and sustainable materials—including all-organic cotton—to produce timeless basics. Every detail, from the fabric to the stitching, reflects the brand’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and tradition.
In 2011 Gitta & Peter Plotnicki revived the century-old textile factory of Balthasar Merz to create Merz b. Schwanen. Using original loopwheel machines dating from as early as 1889, Merz devotes itself to the recreation of authentic heritage garments. From the fabrics, to threads, and even labels and buttons, Merz is committed to sustainability through the use of high-quality organic materials and environmentally-friendly production methods.
