  • Inspired by familiar American work coats, this hooded jacket from Kaptain Sunshine is crafted from a heavyweight cotton-hemp oxford fabric with a warm wool liner. The fabric is densely woven in Japan using cotton at the warp and thick hemp yarn at the weft, then dyed with traditional Persimmon tannin for a soft, tonal finish. Cut in a relaxed fit with large handwarmer pockets, interior zip breast pocket, and ribbed wool hemming.

Kaptain Sunshine is the work of Shinsuke Kojima, a Tokyo-based designer who spent a decade sharpening his eye as the founding editor of Japan’s fashion magazine Huge. Launched in 2013, the brand reflects Kojima’s lifelong love for vintage Americana and the outdoors – reimagined through a Japanese lens. Each garment is crafted in Japan using original fabrics and cut in the relaxed, comfortable silhouettes Kojima himself likes to wear.
