  • The M-43 Service Shoes are WWII-era boondocker boots, handcrafted in Japan to John Lofgren’s exacting standard of quality. Designed to faithfully replicate standard-issue service boots of the era, the Service Shoe features a streamlined profile built around the original Munson last. Patented in 1912 by U.S. Army doctor Edward Munson, the last was perfected through the study of over two thousand servicemen.

The original supplier to the U.S. Army during WWII, the boots feature Horween Tannery’s Natural Chromexcel leather, flipped to showcase its roughout side. Over time, the leather develops a rich patina that reflects the wearer’s use, softening and darkening with age. Each pair is built using Goodyear welt construction and finished with USA-made storm welts, mil-spec eyelets, and Vibram 700 soles.
